Ding Dong Cake is a delicious dessert that combines chocolate cake, vanilla cream filling, and chocolate ganache. Here's a recipe for making a Ding Dong Cake:


INGREDIENTS:

For the cake:

2 cups granulated sugar

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup vegetable oil

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup hot water

For the filling:

1 cup milk

5 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the chocolate ganache:

1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

3/4 cup heavy cream


INSTRUCTIONS:

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2.In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3.Add the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.

4.Gradually stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth.

5.Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.

6.Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove them from the pans and place them on a wire rack to cool completely.

7.To make the filling, whisk together the milk and flour in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil.

8.Remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool to room temperature.

9.In a mixing bowl, beat the sugar and butter until light and fluffy.

10.Add the cooled milk mixture and vanilla extract to the mixing bowl and beat until smooth and creamy.

11.To make the ganache, place the chocolate chips in a medium heatproof bowl.

12.In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just comes to a boil.

13.Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips and stir until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.

14.To assemble the cake, place one cake layer on a serving plate.

15.Spread the vanilla cream filling evenly over the top of the first cake layer.

16.Top with the second cake layer.

17.Pour the chocolate ganache over the top of the cake, spreading it evenly to the edges.

18.Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
